WEIGHTED VEST: PERFECT FOR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS

This vest is designed for versatile use, enabling quick and easy adjustments between different participants. It features large, roomy outer pockets that can accommodate a heavier load and is fitted with robust clip fasteners. The weight modules are filled with natural gravel, and the vest is available in red, pink, blue, navy blue, and black.

The OT Vest proves particularly useful when there are multiple users or when a single user requires additional weight inserts during meltdowns or therapy sessions. The outer pockets facilitate easy and swift adjustment of the weight inserts, and the vest can remain on while these adjustments are made.

Front clip fasteners ensure the vest remains securely in place whilst also allowing for quick changes, making it ideal for group settings in classrooms or therapy sessions. Unlike standard vests, which typically recommend a maximum load of only 5% of the user’s body weight, this vest can accommodate more weight. Users can express their comfort levels both verbally and non-verbally, indicating a willingness to wear the vest for extended periods. Research indicates that children with sensory integration disorders may feel more at ease with a heavier vest than is usually advised. The vest can be worn in intervals and for durations determined by the user’s needs; observation is key in assessing comfort levels.

A weighted vest applies deep pressure to the muscles and joints of the user. Weighted therapy is beneficial for individuals with conditions such as autism, Asperger’s syndrome, sensory integration difficulties, ADHD, cerebral palsy, poor motor skills and coordination, hyperactivity, and challenges in falling asleep.
